1. Who we are
Exit Value is a trading name of [COMPANY NAME], a company registered in England and Wales (company number [COMPANY NUMBER]), registered office [REGISTERED ADDRESS]. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration number [ICO REGISTRATION NUMBER].
We are the "controller" of the personal data you give us on this website. You can contact us about this policy or your data at [CONTACT EMAIL].
2. What Exit Value does
Exit Value is a referral service. We help business owners get an indicative idea of what their business could be worth and, if they want it, introduce them to a firm that advises on selling a business. We do not value businesses ourselves and we do not give advice.
We share your details only with a named partner firm, and only after you have agreed to it. We will tell you who the partner is before any of your details are shared. The partner may pay us a fee for the introduction.
3. The data we collect
- Your answers to our short questions: the type of business you run, when you might sell, its annual profit range and what would help you most.
- Your contact details: first name, phone number and email address.
- Your consent: the wording you agreed to and when you agreed to it.
- Technical and marketing data: the page address, the advert or campaign that brought you to us (UTM parameters), your approximate country, and, only if you accept advertising cookies, cookie identifiers used by Meta (Facebook and Instagram).
We do not ask for, and you should not give us, any special category data (for example about your health).
4. How we use your data and our lawful basis
| What we do | Lawful basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Contact you by phone, text and email about your results and options | Your consent (Article 6(1)(a)) |
| Introduce you to a named partner firm, after you have agreed to that introduction | Your consent (Article 6(1)(a)) |
| Keep a record of your consent and our contact with you | Legal obligation and our legitimate interests in showing we act lawfully (Article 6(1)(c) and (f)) |
| Check that details are genuine and prevent misuse of the website | Our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) |
| Measure how our adverts perform using advertising cookies | Your consent (Article 6(1)(a) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) |
You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing [CONTACT EMAIL] or by replying STOP to any text. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
5. Who we share your data with
- Our named partner firm, only after you have agreed and been told who they are. They become a separate controller of your data and will give you their own privacy notice.
- Service providers who help us run this website and our contact with you (website hosting, our customer relationship system and telephone and email services). They act on our instructions only.
- Meta Platforms, only if you accept advertising cookies, to measure our adverts. Contact details sent for ad measurement are scrambled (hashed) first. Your answers to our questions are never sent to Meta.
- Regulators, law enforcement or others where the law requires it.
We never sell your data.
6. International transfers
Some of our service providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we make sure there are appropriate safeguards, such as UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum.
7. How long we keep your data
We keep your details for up to [RETENTION PERIOD, e.g. 24 months] after our last contact with you, and then delete them, unless we need to keep them longer to meet a legal obligation or deal with a complaint. Consent records are kept for as long as we need to show you agreed.
8. Cookies
We use essential storage to make this page work (for example, remembering your cookie choice). With your permission only, we use Meta's advertising cookies to measure how our adverts perform. You can accept or reject these on the banner, and change your mind by clearing this site's cookies in your browser.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to: access your data; have it corrected; have it deleted; restrict or object to how we use it; data portability; and withdraw consent at any time. To use any of these rights, email [CONTACT EMAIL]. We will reply within one month.
10. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have used your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
